Why We Use jQuery

December 24, 2011

When it comes to using Javascript, many web designers simply don’t have the time to learn all of the small facets of the language. Various functions built into the standard are not actually cross-browser, and in today’s multi-browser market it’s an extra pain to keep track of what works and what doesn’t. Although the best thing your company can do is hire a Javascript-only developer, for many small design firms the costs of doing such a thing would outweigh the benefits.

jQuery is a great Javascript framework because it’s simple and it just works. Beginning Javascripters can pick up the language fairly easily, as its most basic uses resemble CSS and its syntax is simply intuitive. But even beyond that, advanced developers can use the language for incredibly powerful applications. From Amazon to ESPN, Google to Twitter, many of the most popular websites on the web employ the framework. Even without accessing the dozens of plugins offered across the web, developers can use jQuery to power a new age of fantastic front end designs.

We recognize that not all of our clients are going to always be with us for support. They’ll turn to other firms for reasons like location, pricing, or family connections, but we want their site to still be a success. We use jQuery not only to give power to our designed sites, but also to give future firms an easy job with debugging and adding on to what we’ve done. By using a standard framework, we enable easy troubleshooting for our clients. We recommend you do too.
